Care Home Evacuation covers the essential information necessary to instruct staff in the procedures that need to be followed if there is a fire or similar emergency in a care home. In this DVD the following subjects are covered:
Raising the Alarm - Everyone must understand the importance of activating the fire alarm as soon as they discover a fire cannot be overstated. In this section we look at how the alarm can be set off manually by operating a fire alarm as well as the automatic system that protects the premises.
Calling the Fire Service - Making sure that the fire service arrive quickly will ensure that professional help is on hand as quickly as possible. All too often people have lost their lives because there was a delay in calling the fire service. This section covers the information that the fire service controller will require, as well as reinforcing the importance of making this call immediately.
Evacuation - This section begins by considering the major differences of evacuating a care home to most other premises where the occupants can generally leave unaided. We look at the steps that are necessary to ensure that residents are moved away from the fire zone, to a safe area on the same level.
Portable Fire Fighting Equipment - Which covers the essential information about the safe use of fire extinguishers and the types of fire that they can and cannot be used on.
